Art and government may seem a strange mix, but Tallahassee has a bounty of art in and around the Capitol area. The Florida Supreme Court Building houses a significant collection of artwork. The Stormsong, an impressive public art sculpture on Monroe Street, celebrates Florida’s diverse wildlife. The City Hall Art Gallery features the works of local artists and annual juried exhibits. In the same vicinity, Artworks Gallery and Cultural Resources Commission showcases pottery, paintings, prints, glassware and rotating exhibits of local artists. Nearby, the LeMoyne Art Foundation includes visual art galleries and a sculpture garden and the FSU Museum of Fine Art (MoFA) has a history of exciting projects, exhibitions and provocative shows. Finally, a stroll along the galleries and studios on Gaines Street is sure to turn up a one-of-a-kind art treasures.
